Remask 21-05: Verona by Enrico Girotti

The Remask Project represents a new artistic genesis for surgical masks, regenerated to convey renewed meaning, perception, and memory. This experimental initiative began during the first lockdown, when masks became an omnipresent symbol of a pivotal historical moment. Conceived by designer Enrico Girotti, the project aims to re-transform an everyday object into a precious cultural icon. Girotti's intervention reinterprets the shape and symbolic value of masks, transfiguring them from “soft” objects into “hardened” works of art, enriched with 24K gold, which imparts an alchemical and solar significance.

Each piece in the collection is the result of meticulous craftsmanship, blending symbolism and innovation to inspire profound reflection on memory. The Remask 2021 series comprises 8 unique pieces, handcrafted to preserve the essence of the original masks. Each is accompanied by a certificate of uniqueness. This is piece number 5 in the series.
