This experimental initiative began during the first lockdown, when masks became an omnipresent symbol of a pivotal historical moment. Conceived by designer Enrico Girotti, the project aims to re-transform an everyday object into a precious cultural icon. Girotti's intervention reinterprets the shape and symbolic value of masks, transfiguring them from “soft” objects into “hardened” works of art, enriched with 24K gold, which imparts an alchemical and solar significance.
