The immortality of metal, stone and rock continues to capture me. I use such materials with innovation, using unrestricted methods such as melting, wax moulding and cuttlefish casting to create indiscriminate forms through immediate results. I seek to find the balance between glorifying the materials through craftsmanship and leaving them untainted.
I wish to represent the graduation of raw material through to what the consumer would see, triggering thoughts and connotations of mining and the original qualities of the materials before human intervention. Mining and sourcing are such essential steps within making jewellery and I wanted to create a collection that celebrates this. Rejuvenating materials such as clinker, tarmac and fossil into my pieces: constantly questioning what makes something valuable. Being fully captured my material matter making sense of the world of jewellery through the exploration of how traditional and alternative materials alike can be manipulated.
