Isla Gilham. Head piece: Crown Jewels, 2018. Found Object, Glass. Inspired by the Imperial State Crown, which is set with various different historic gemstones, my crown highlights how reusing jewels and pieces can create a piece rich in narrative and history. I was inspired by the Swarovski rings, almost made to be intertwined and twisting. I set myself the target of not wasting a scrap, dissecting and carefully placing each section into its place. Atop the crown, sits a crystal from a chandelier, homage to the positioning of Cullinan number 2 diamond..
