Object: Standing House by Kira Kim.Glass and steel. 2023.38.7 x 14 x 24 cmUnique piece.Resting on a bed of nails, 40 pieces of glass of different sizes, shapes and colours have been assembled in a house-like structure. Created using technically challenging kiln casting, the glass has been hand-finished with multiple applications of lacquer, altering its opacity and creating a dynamic interplay between light and dark. This unusual surface treatment also makes the glass appear heavy, as though it is a solid imposing mass..
