Necklace: Violetas del Anáhuac by Laura Elena Sanchez.Sterling silver, leather. 2010.28 x 16 x 0.7 cm.2010 marks the Bicentennial of the Independence of Mexico, as well as the Centennial Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution. . As part of the celebrations, several Mexican Institutions launched the National Silver Contest "Hugo Salinas Price Award” t, aimed at jewelers and goldsmiths.I was able to participate in the contest, with my piece entitled “Violetas del Anahuac”, depicting struggling Mexican women at the beginning of the twentieth Century. . The pieces from all participants, including the one I presented, are shown at the Museum of Popular Art, from September 10 to October 10, 2010. -2016-2016.
