Statement: The idea for the comfortouch project came to the designer through her job as a mentor at a boarding school for at-risk youth. “I noticed the students’ need to feel safe. Sometimes they found that sense of safety by touching or fiddling with objects. Tactile sensory input is calming and can ease emotional distress,” says Sagi. The pleasant textures of this authentic, comfortable collection invite the wearer to touch the pieces, aiming to provide a sense of warmth and of being held. As we cope with the isolation and uncertainty that came with COVID-19, the need for touch, comfort, ease, and being held becomes even greater.
