Jewellery chromosome (6, 9, 12) by Sungho Cho

Piece

My jewellery pieces recognise the value of the things that we think worthless, like garbage or dust and others. By bringing the working-dusts, which were made in the working process of others - for example Prof. Otto Künzli, my colleague and a jewellery artist - and mine into my jewellery, I create a new material, also in terms of higher value. Each piece takes the shape which has many pointed thorns. But it is rather "explosive" than "aggressive". Therefore it means a "new birth", seems like the moment of the birth of a new star from old and dirty dust. As l covered working-dusts on enamel, which were already covered on the surface of copper construction, they naturally reacted each other in the oven. As a consequence, l was able to get the particular textures as well as very special colors. Unlike other techniques in the jewellery work, we do not know the result of the enameling for certain till we see that after bake. So in my jewellery pieces, l also intended to show such a character of enameling with the new results l found.
