Statement: Inspired by Judaica, this collection is based on candlesticks and menorahs - common religious symbols featured in Jewish family traditions and rituals. “The starting point for this project was the importance of tradition and family rituals in my life,” Tchinio explains. The modular menorahs and candlesticks have two states: open and closed. When open, these objects represent ritualistic traditions; when closed, they are stripped of this meaning and transformed into decorative objects - sculptures. Coupled with the objects’ modularity, Tchinio’s choice of polymer material makes these sculptures suitable for children to play with all year-round, rather than just on special occasions.
