These pieces of jewelry are a tribute to Frida Kahlo. The starting point for these works was a painting I created in 2011, titled In Cage. The painting depicts a female body in a corset, symbolizing imprisonment—a mesh of lines that constrict the body to the point of asphyxiation.
This concept parallels the corset Frida Kahlo wore after a bus accident in which she fractured her spine and pelvis. The injury caused her immense physical and psychological pain.

In response, I deconstructed my painting, cutting the canvas into strips and folding them in various ways to create petals and flowers—elements that Kahlo cherished, both as symbols of fertility and as personal expressions of her heritage. By deconstructing my own work, I sought to honor Frida's bravery and perseverance in expressing her emotions through art.

The act of deconstructing the image represents a contemporary, conceptual approach to art: the idea that a painting exists not only through its craft, but also through the meaning and emotions it conveys.
