Intro
2024 has been a year rich in publications dedicated to contemporary jewellery. Between monographs, exhibition catalogues, and analytical works, Klimt02 editors offer a selection of must-have books, ensuring that exhibitions and the work of artists who have left their indelible mark on the history of jewellery are preserved forever in print.

In 2024 Klimt02 featured 18 books edited by the publishing house specialized in fine arts, applied arts, and design, Arnoldsche Art Publishers. Among these publications, a few particularly stood out to us:

Daniel Kruger. The Unexpected Meaning of Curious Things. A book by Barbara Schmidt and Olga Zobel Biró that traces the last ten years of the German artist's work, highlighting his unique approach to jewellery.

Peter Bauhuis. Simultanea: 18 Vessels. A captivating book where the artist's pieces are presented in a still-life style under the lens of photographer Hans Hansen, illustrating his experimental work with casting techniques, which he has perfected over more than 20 years.

Dead Souls. Desire and Memory in the Jewelry of Keith Lewis. A monograph by Damian Skinner that unveils the bold and provocative work of jewellery artist Keith Lewis, exploring themes of desire and memory.

Danner Prize 2023. Artistic Crafts of Distinction. The official catalogue of the prestigious exhibition held at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Landshut, Germany, in 2023. Awarded every three years by the Danner Foundation, the Danner Prize honours excellence in craftsmanship, artistic ambition, and an innovative exploration of contemporary trends in the arts and crafts. This publication includes essays by renowned authors who offer various perspectives on the significance and evolution of arts and crafts today.

For those interested in exhibition catalogues, we recommend delving into the artistic universes of:

Sigurd Bronger: Wearables. More than just a catalogue, this book traces the Norwegian jeweller's entire body of work since the 1980s, resonating with his first solo exhibition at the Neue Sammlung in Munich, held during the Munich Schmuck Fair 2024.

Elisabeth Holder. From Jewellery to Contextual Art. This book accompanies the exhibition of the same name at the Gesellschaft für Goldschmiedekunst, which took place last summer. It explores how the artist questions materials through a cross-disciplinary practice, leading to a paradigm shift in the perception of jewellery and redefining it as contextual art.

- The catalogue Masterworks from the 80s & 90s. A Curated Selection by Hannah Gallery from María Luisa Samaranch's Private Collection presents a refined selection of pieces from the private collection of María Luisa Samaranch, founder of the publishing house sd·edicions, documenting nearly 40 years of acquisitions. The book accompanied the exhibition of the same name at Hannah Gallery.

We also want to highlight the book Attai Chen: All the World’s a Stage, an emotional retrospective by Carina Shoshtary, Glenn Adamson, and Sool Park. This book offers an in-depth exploration of the captivating artistic universe in which Attai Chen transformed jewellery into sculptural expressions.

Finally, J 01 Tereza Seabra, the first volume in the J collection by Cristina Filipe, sheds light on artists who emerged in contemporary jewellery from the 1960s onward, offering a critical perspective and rich visual storytelling. This inaugural book focuses on the work of Portuguese artist and gallery owner Tereza Seabra.
