Artist list

Heejoo Kim, Yong Joo Kim, Eun Mi Chun, Chun Sun Moon, Yeon Hee Ryu, Hea Lim Shin, Hyun Suk Sim, Jin Soon Woo
As part of the Munich Creative Business Week 2016 from February 20-28, the Korea Crafts & Design Foundation - in representation of the South Korean Ministry for Culture, Sports and Tourism - is presenting the work of over 50 Korean designers and artisans.

The special quality and distinctive aesthetic of the exhibits stem from a unique craftsmanship fusing Korean traditions with innovative techniques. While their contemplative appeal is testament to a deep understanding of the materials, an unexpected formal language emerges that reflects the happiness of experimentation and the transposition of cultural heritage onto contemporary aspirations. The integration of the passion of personal discovery with ancient roots of cultural commonality reveals the essence of contemporary “Korean aesthetic” - simplicity and nature, sensuality and beauty.

With its focus on contemporary artisanry and design in the context of the Munich Creative Business Week 2016, “Korea NOW! Korean Crafts & Design in Munich 2016” introduces new perspectives on future joint ventures between the creative industries of South Korea and Bavaria. The presentation, which also visited the Triennale di Milano and at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, is accompanied by a video projection featuring a selection of the participating designers and artisans.

An exhibition by the Korea Crafts & Design Foundation – a public institution of South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism - and organized as part of the Munich Creative Business Week 2016.
