Intro
Now at its eighteenth edition, AUTOR has established a tradition of awarding some of the most creative designers who bring their works to Bucharest. AUTOR Awards offer unique opportunities to the designers to broaden their international presence and experience through participation in prestigious contemporary jewelry events throughout Europe or in courses organised by well-known schools. At the same time, through the cooperation between AUTOR and the organisations who generously partner in the Awards, they are a vehicle for strengthening the contemporary and art jewelry community overall.
AAA (AUTOR Awesome Award) - Andra Lupu for the Crushed collection. Crushed is a powerful emotion - inspired by the way we connect, the collection brings together melted silver pieces, organic structures that seem very fragile - at the first glance - and which are a metaphor of our own relationships.
Andra will be the new focus designer at AUTOR 2020, where a special collection is expected. Her works will be in the limelight on the AUTOR platform, where she will enjoy a year of promotion.

The Assamblage AwardCanan Durukal, a designer from Turkey, who came to Bucharest with the Veins collection, made from a raw leather substitute that takes unusual shapes through machining. The team at Assamblage, in partnership with AUTOR, offered Canan the opportunity to participate in a jewelry course of the only private jewelry school in Bucharest.

The Athens Jewelry Week, which included free participation in the homonymous event, went to Xiangyin Shi for the Friends brooch that celebrates and ironises the virtual world.

The Joya Barcelona Award, which provides the winner with the free participation in the Joya Barcelona Art Jewelry and Objects, one of the most famous events of the jewelry industry, was awarded to Raluca Buzura, the AUTOR focus artist this year. Raluca celebrated 10 years of participation in AUTOR with the collection SHE, a metaphor of femininity in all its aspects.

The Venice Design Week Award, consisting of direct participation in the jewelry section Meet the Designers at Venice Design Week in October 2019 went to Mona Velciov, with the Migration collection a contemporary and art made the response to the individual and global challenges, to which we are subjected along with our different types of mobility.

The Public’s Choice Award was won by Mihaela Caravan, whose collection received the most votes from the visitors. Entitled Vulnerability, the collection was inspired by the feelings we sometimes choose not to feel, to protect us from the discomfort of dealing with them: pain, fear, anger, sadness, anxiety and worry. But choosing to avoid this discomfort, we avoid, on the contrary, discovering new possibilities in ourselves.
