Intro
Initiated in 2009, in partnership with the City of Mons, the WCC-Europe and supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the European Prize for Applied Arts rewards creations of contemporary expression in the field of Applied Arts and Craft Design. This 5th edition will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the association.
This competition is for all artists working in the field of applied arts and artisanal design and residing in a European country (including non-EU members). The works selected for the competition must be of a high standard, both technically and aesthetically, and be innovative.

Laureates:
Pernille Braun - €3500 awarded by the Ministry of Culture of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles
A technically mastered work, similar to pareidolia, polysemous and whose beauty is built in layers, with the experience of the gaze. Pernille Braun's work touches by its intimate, personal character, and by its evocative lightness.

Edu Tarin - €3500 awarded by WCC-Europe
Considered exemplary, the work of Edu Tarin finds all its relevance in the choice of materials used, whose effectiveness of trompe-l'oeil comes from a high mastery of materials and techniques used, that are current and innovative. A fine example of contemporary jewellery hailed by the members of the jury.

Marie-Anne Thieffry - €1500 awarded by Public Prize
(This year, the public also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite artist. Votes are taken only at the exhibition venue)
Precision, elegance and refinement join here the sobriety of an unconventional material in the world of applied arts. The public emphasizes the principles of circular economy due to the recycling of cardboard whose modest and utilitarian character gives way to nobility thanks to her savoir-faire.
