Intro
First introduced in 2006, the BKV Prize for Young Arts and Crafts took place for the eighteenth time this year.

Sixty-six applications from 16 countries were received. The jury process comprised two stages, beginning with a photo jury followed by the object jury. In the second jury session, the works of 29 artists were evaluated, leading the jury to select three winners, two commendations, and 15 finalists.

The Bavarian Crafts Council is dedicated to the promotion of contemporary crafts. A key aspect of its work is supporting young artisans. This prize is therefore aimed at young artisans under 35 years of age who are about to embark on their professional career. The prize is open for entries from all over the world and from all areas of applied arts. Prizes go to works that show excellent design based on fine craftsmanship
 
COMPETITION
The competition is aimed specifically at young artisans who have completed their professional training and are beginning their careers. The competition is international and covers all areas of applied arts. Artisans who have yet to reach the age of 35 may participate.
 
CRITERIA
The prize is awarded to works with unique artistic creations based on fine craftsmanship.

AWARDS
  • First Prize:  € 3.000,- + Catalogue (German/English) 
  • 2nd Prize:  € 2.000,- + Catalogue (German/English)   
  • 3rd Prize:  € 1.000,- + Catalogue (German/English)   
  • The three prize winners receive a joint catalogue (German/English) •  Additionally, all prize winners will be honored with a complimentary three   year membership in the BKV.

On its communal space, the Bavarian Arts and Crafts Association showcases selected works from members spanning all areas of craftsmanship. A special presentation showcases the works of the winners and finalists of the BKV Prize 2024 for Young Craftsmanship.

The Award Ceremony will be held at the Internationale Handwerksmesse in Munich on 2 March 2024 at 2 p.m. on the stage in Hall B1.
