Along with such hope, Violeta Adomaitytė embraces the contradictions that often occur in nature—black vs. white, dark vs. light— exemplified for her in the white almond blossoms against the black night sky. Adomaitytė’s minimalist, geometric work also features such oppositions. It is simultaneously organic and industrial, romantic and modern, delicate and durable.

She ruminates, “I wanted to do huge things, I thought I had to do huge things. To talk about man, soul and life, I realized it was too big…so I decided to describe life in its smallest form possible. Water in a cup, white almond flower in the night, acacia leaves. And there I
combined my love for life with my love for drawing and painting, with my love for metal, for fire, for jewelry. Here it all came together.”

Violeta Adomaitytė is a contemporary artist-jeweler based in Vilnius, Lithuania. She holds a BA in metal art and jewelry from the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Telšiai Faculty of Arts, in Vilnius, Lithuania and is currently pursuing an MA in gemstones and jewellery at the Trier University of Applied Sciences at Idar Oberstein, Germany.
