Intro
In this solo show Edu Tarin will be presenting the artistic outcomes of his two-year research project at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. This research deals with the imaginary fracture that exists between crafts and technology, focusing on the bridging point between hand and machine in the discipline of gemstone carving.

Despite humans being immerse in a self-made world, craft is often associated with the way things were done in the past but not with how they will be done in the future.

By intertwining human, machine and artifact through reciprocal modification, Edu intends to question anthropocentric ideals in search for a more intimate and dialectic way of dealing with both, traditional hand stone carving techniques and automated subtractive manufacturing processes.
