The Language of Making: From Hand to Form asks what happens when the human hand is brought back into focus. The exhibition draws attention to a value that cannot be reduced to the material or market value of a jewel: the knowledge, skill, experimentation and time required to transform an idea into physical form. Here, making is not simply a means to an end. Making is part of the meaning.

The exhibition will open at Turkish House with a live piano recital and refreshments, welcoming visitors to discover the works and meet members of the participating creative community. The opening will be accompanied by a panel discussion bringing together participating designers to explore craftsmanship as a contemporary design language and to share the techniques, traditions and personal approaches behind their work. A cocktail reception will follow, offering guests the opportunity to meet the participating artists, discover the exhibition and connect with New York’s creative and jewelry community.

The exhibition’s presentation at Türk Evi, the Turkish House adds a meaningful cultural dimension to this encounter, creating a direct connection between Türkiye and New York within the framework of an internationally recognized jewelry festival. We are deeply grateful to Turkish House and to everyone who contributed to the realization of this exhibition for their generous support, dedication, and invaluable contributions to this cultural exchange.

Ece Ermec Uster, independent jewelry curator, consultant and writer, is the curator of the exhibition and the founder of Jewelery.Muse, a platform exploring jewelry at the intersection of art, design, culture and craftsmanship. Through her curatorial and writing practice, she creates opportunities to bring the diversity of Türkiye’s contemporary jewelry practices into a broader international conversation, connecting the work with professionals, collectors, curators, and jewelry enthusiasts in New York and beyond.
