What do a shell, a gemstone, a piece of plastic, a relic and a fetish have in common? In Daniel Kruger’s work, they can be combined in a single piece of jewellery.
Artist list
Daniel Kruger
Daniel Kruger’s art jewellery is surprising, exuberant, sometimes mischievous and always seductive. It beckons to you and invites you to linger and look a little longer. Kruger combines every conceivable material and technique – from gemstones to everyday objects, and from traditional textile work to refined metalwork. The sublime meets the mundane. The precious meets the cheap. The classical meets the kitsch. And, as a result, it all becomes more appealing.
Kruger’s jewellery draws the eye to the neck, the chest, the hand, the ear. It magnifies, accentuates, seduces. For Kruger, a piece of jewellery can be an ornament, a talisman, a statement or simply an irresistible object that brings you joy.
Daniel Kruger (born 1951 in Cape Town, South Africa) studied goldsmithing and graphic design, painting and sculpture, and subsequently goldsmithing at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich. He is at home in various worlds and weaves them together in a wonderfully natural way.
Daniel Kruger’s work can be found in many public and private collections worldwide.
