With a delightful essay by Barbara Maas, this book includes a series of necklaces by South African artist Daniel Kruger.

“The jewellery I make is to adorn a person, to be a celebration. Its place is the body and its intention is to enhance the wearer as well as to be an object of contemplation to be taken in the hand and looked at from all sides. It is both jewellery and an artefact conceived and made by one person for the enjoyment by another person.”

Daniel Kruger was born in Cape Town and now lives in Germany. Working as both a ceramicist and a jeweller, Kruger combines influences from ancient civilizations with an utterly contemporary sensibility. His work is held in major collections internationally, including The Powerhouse Museum, The Münchner Stadtmuseum and the Cooper Hewett National Design Museum. He is currently professor at the University of Art and Design in Halle.
