Collecting  things - Making things

The newest series of necklaces on display explores the obvious and the hidden relationships between East and West, between the past and the present, between the natural and the artificial, the known and the mysterious, between old traditions  and avant-garde: raw garnets from the desert near Dunhuang are combined with gold and iron elements which form fluid and long lines to be laced around the neck. Jade pieces or a black stone with natural carved veines coming from the area of Hotan are linked together with handforged  heavy cupperrings. Tiny river pearls are sitting on a ultrathin steelstring like waterdrops on a cobweb, while in another necklace the pearlstrings running out of dark organic branches reveal a tender inner life.
The combination of transformed and raw materials not only satisfy the modern sense of esthetics, it also satisfy our human need for beeing linked to our roots, the natural and the cultural roots.
