Intro
(...) 100 designers, 19 European countries. The best of European applied arts were invited to Mons, stablished designers and young talents (...)
The works exhibited will reveal how tight, if not imperceptible, the dividing line between fine arts and applied arts has now become.
Although the materials and disciplines broached in this exhibition fall under arts formerly referred to as “minor”, the quest that drives the artists who created them defies all classification. Whether working with jewellery, design, textiles, ceramics, glass, wood, or paper, their creations are in keeping with contemporary art.
This prize and the exhibition that ensues, afford a unique opportunity to discover the trends thanks to works stemming from 19 European countries.
Seasoned artists and young talents' creations will be on show in the magnificent showcase of the Great Hall of the Former Abattoirs of Mons (Belgium).
