Statement
What I like most, besides making jewellery, is travel. As a kid I used to roam all museums of my city of birth Leiden, but the Museum of Ethnology was my absolute favourite. From the climatized rooms of the museum I dreamt away to the exciting, exotic worlds where the beautiful utensils and objects of wood, bamboo, shell, bone, stone, feathers originated. When people tell me my jewellery seems to come from some unknown far away culture, I realize my love for ethnografics must show through. The work table of a modern jeweller is the perfect travelground for someone who likes adventure -in any shape and any material- on the one hand and who wants to stay in control on the other hand.
In my jewellery I try to put as much eloquence as is to be found an Inuit carved horn spoon or a worn ratan Indonesian lunch basket.
