Friends of Carlotta was founded in 1990 by Bruna Hauert. She organized various exhibitions under this label until she finally opened the Friends of Carlotta jewelry gallery in the middle of Zurich's old town in 1995. Today Friends of Carlotta is one of the leading galleries for contemporary jewelry design.
The gallery is an intensively used platform for designers, collectors and jewelry lovers from all over the world. In the permanent exhibition she shows pieces of jewelry by over 80 international designers and conveys a lustful cross-section through contemporary jewelry making.
From inconspicuously subtle to clear, classic and strict to bulging, lush, colorful and playful, the exhibited works in high-quality and unconventional materials, their independent design language and perfect technical and craftsmanship. Sometimes the works are crazy, but mostly they are surprisingly comfortable and easy to carry. The enormously diverse and inspired selection of special marriage and partner rings by jewelry designers from all over the world is also unique. In recent years, the Friends of Carlotta jewelry gallery has been pioneering modern jewelry art.
The Friends of Carlotta Jewelry and Promotional Prize, which Bruna Hauert, together with an independent jury, awards outstanding works every two to three years for a thematic exhibition, enjoys great international prestige. Friends of Carlotta also sets impulses - not least thanks to the sophisticated themed exhibitions - for further development in European jewelry culture.
