Gallery Tereza Seabra - Jóias de Autor gathers the work of 20 invited artists to exhibit jewellery where white is the dominant tone. In the context of contemporary jewellery we may verify the increase of artists using recycled objects of everyday living into their creative process.
Artist list
Ana Margarida Carvalho, Miriam Castro, Jeemie Jamie Chung, Kristin D’Agostino, Steffi Götze, Gésine Hackenberg, Peter Hoogeboom, Hee-ang Kim, Li Lang, Teresa Milheiro, Kazumi Nagano, Anna Norrgrann, Carolina Quintela, Nora Rochel, Catarina Silva, Manuela Sousa, Christph Straube, Sam Tho-Duong, Jessica Turrell, Corrado de Meo
A focused look will allow us to recognize the yogurt containers converted into majestic necklaces by Sam Tho-Duong in his serial work lemticA, additionally the take away food containers transformed into delicate Jewells by the hands of Kristin D’agostino.
The evident dissonance between the pieces present in this exhibition comes from the multiple esthetical approaches from the various authors, through different reinvented techniques and also the innovative materials used – these factors are significant in what nowadays classifies contemporary jewellery.
The visual unity present in this exhibition is offered deliberately through the choice of white as common formal aspect. / Tereza Seabra, Translated by Hugo Bernardo
