Bio
Yue (Hyue) Huang, Chinese/Portuguese, is currently based in Lagos, Portugal. He is a contemporary craft artist working in jewellery and objects, whose practice explores themes of identity and belonging through material and craft-based expression. From 2018 to 2022, Hyuè attended the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs at Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence, Italy, where he received training in traditional goldsmithing techniques and contemporary jewellery practices, with a focus on cultural identity.Statement
A dialogue; Between hand and mind; Connecting thought through touch; Diving from reflection into reaction; Emotion begins to emerge; Form slowly grows; Gesture leaves its trace; Hands express what words cannot say…Zì (Self in Chinese) reveals. My practice is driven by a continuous curiosity for the complex layer of identity and the sense of self-belonging. Material and techniques become tools for reflection, transformation and narrative communication. I believe all material is human-like, and our hands express purely emotions that words cannot say.
