The gallery is proud to present a group show from various different students coming from the school of jewelry in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. The purpose is not to bring one single artist in the spotlight but to get an overview of what is being transmitted at this particular school. Works included from students of various nationalities, different levels of study and past and present school years.

The University of applied Science in Idar-Oberstein represents an understanding of jewelry that regards jewelry beyond ornamentation or its function as a status indicator. Jewelry becomes a personal object in that its creator, wearer, and viewer are putting their feelings, ideas, memories, and desires into. Jewelry contributes to the subjective and social constitution of the personality of the wearer; it symbolizes the person of the wearer and becomes an index of personality.

The course of study does not regard itself as a school whose reputation is based primarily on and radiates the aura of its professors. Rather, it aims to be a laboratory, operating at the cutting edge of actuality with a strong reference to gemstone, a process in which the students and teachers research and experiment together on the project that is jewelry.
