The Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new and recent work by artist-jewelers Sarah Pulvertaft and Sian Evans, two artist-jewelers living and working in the UK. This exhibition is curated by Heather Guidero, a jeweler from Providence, Rhode Island. Heather traveled to London to visit the Goldsmiths Fair and met Sarah and Sian exhibiting there. Each artist’s work complements the other, and both are extraordinary.
Artist list
Sian Evans, Sarah Pulvertaft
Sarah set up her workshop in London in 1995, where she worked for 10 years before moving to rural Oxfordshire. She uses traditional jewellery techniques to create modern jewellery in silver and gold combining repeated articulated and kinetic elements to form subtle, undulating surfaces and patterns.
Sian is currently working in Dorset, on the south coast of England, after leaving London, where she had a studio for 40 years. Her work over 3 decades has encompassed many niches of the jewellery world and her academic research reflects her lifelong interests in archeology, geology, environment, ethics, technology and process. Her work embodies ancient aesthetics while being a contemporary conversation with jewellery and jewellery archetypes.
The show opens on Saturday, June 7th with a reception from 12 – 4 pm and will remain on view through July 25th.
