Ulrike Kleine-Behnke and Silke Trekel studied together at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. They have since then been connected by a decades-long artistic dialogue. This dialogue focuses on experimenting with the material whose properties will determine the design. From 5 of March to 17 of April, Bayerischer Kunstgewerbeverein presents a view on the forms these two artists have created.
Artist list
Ulrike Kleine-Behnke, Silke Trekel
Ulrike Kleine-Behnke finds nature an important source for her ideas. She appreciates the delicate graphic of nature's examples. Silke Trekel prefers larger forms with volume and plasticity, which at times turn her jewellery into stand-alone objects and small sculptural works. The work of both artists is characterized by a clear and reduced design where structure and surface, sequence, and rhythm play an equally important part. This results in the creation of exciting and meaningful pieces of jewellery that evoke varied associations.
