Meet the Next Generation of Jewellers and Silversmiths at the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s. Talk 2

On Wednesday 14 October 2026, audiences will hear from early-career jewellers and silversmiths JiangLing Wang, Céline Munisso, Xiaoyu Li and Karen Moon. These live conversations offer insight into each maker’s creative practice, inspirations and ambitions, while providing audiences with the opportunity to discover and support the next generation of UK talent. 

The eight makers taking part in the talks are the first cohort selected for the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s 2027 Spotlighting Getting Started exhibition, which returns to London in 2027. The free public exhibition will showcase the work of sixteen UK-based early-career jewellers and silversmiths, selected across two cohorts, and celebrates the breadth of emerging talent shaping today’s creative landscape. A second cohort of participants will be announced this autumn. 

Spotlighting Getting Started forms part of the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s commitment to supporting independent jewellers and silversmiths through skills development, business knowledge and practical experience as they build sustainable creative businesses. While many early-career makers possess exceptional creative talent, establishing a commercially viable practice can present significant challenges. 

The programme acts as the next step for participants who have completed the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s free introductory business training programme, Getting Started Online. Following selection, participants undertake intensive professional development and business support, gaining experience in public speaking, photography, writing and exhibiting. Through these opportunities, they build confidence in presenting their work and communicating their ideas to potential buyers, commissioners and wider audiences. 

This year’s participants were selected by a panel including jewellery journalist Rachael Taylor, fine jeweller Darren Sherwood and members of the Goldsmiths’ Centre team. Charlotte Dew, Head of Public Programmes at the Goldsmiths’ Centre, explains: Spotlighting Getting Started provides UK-based early-career makers with the chance to translate their learning into real-world practice. Through a series of assignments, participants build core professional skills – such as interview preparation, effective photography and promoting their work online. Each year, we see their confidence grow, helping them expand their businesses and present their work at events across the UK and internationally.
