The ambition of HDK, Academy of Design and Crafts, is to be one of the most attractive and exciting art universities in Europe. Here, we do research and education in design, crafts and arts education. The Department is engaged in big and small societal issues, and contributes to a sustainable society and a better future.
We are looking for a total of 5 doctoral students in the subjects Crafts and/or Design. The number of doctoral students in each subject is determined during the recruitment process.
In HDK Gothenburg, the Crafts programmes in the first cycle (undergraduate level) consist of the programmes in ceramic art, jewellery art, and textile art, and in the second cycle (graduate level) of the crafts programme with specialisations in ceramic art, jewellery art, and textile art. See http://hdk.gu.se/en/programmes-courses/applied-art HDK has Sweden’s only third-cycle programme (doctoral education) in the subject of crafts and the research activities are well-supported. This development includes building “complete environments” that include all three education cycles, including doctoral education, as well as research and working for collaboration between these activities.
Design at HDK in Gothenburg consists of a BA-program and three MA-programs: Design, Child Culture Design and Business & Design, see http://www.hdk.gu.se/en/programmes-courses/design. The research education in Design has existed since 2000 and is an important component in building so called “complete environment”, stressing the interaction and cooperation between research, research education, education and society as such.
