Open Call for the Venice Design Week Jewelry Selection 2025

Against the backdrop of the 2025 TEMPORA theme, Venice Design Week chooses for its 2025 Jewelry Selection, now in its 12th edition, the theme VORTEX, encouraging designers to explore the point in the cyclone of their own experience, personal or professional.

The vortex is the point of maximum energy [which] cuts through space and gives it form, bending materials, techniques and ideas to interpret the fluid movement of the vortex. In the tumultuous years just a few years before the Great War, when nothing was certain and everything was in flux, Umberto Boccioni jotted down this phrase, which soon after became the inspiration for the birth of the cultural movement of Vorticism. Very short-lived, the group was the embodiment of countless philosophical, architectural and artistic suggestions that inspired and moved the likes of Ezra Pound, Wyndham Lewis and Helen Saunders.

Venice Design Week aims to showcase projects by designers who are willing to challenge themselves within the chosen theme, paying special attention to exploring its multiple meanings and symbolism, both on a personal level and within the broader context. In 2025, Venice will once again become a captivating setting for new and inspiring initiatives.

The Selection Jury is composed of Maria Rosa Franzin - AGC, Roberto Zanon - Professor of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, Valeria Accornero - Expert in Contemporary Jewelry, Marianna Serandrei - Collector and Owner of the Saturnia International Hotel, and the organizing committee of Venice Design Week.


Conditions
When submitting to the Venice Design Week Jewelry Selection 2025 keep in mind that your submission will be evaluated primarily on visual appeal, choice of material and craftsmanship. For this purpose, our team STRONGLY advises to attach to your application an image on a white or black background where the product is clearly visible. DO NOT use email communication or WeTransfer links unless unable to use Googleform correctly – in this case, please always refer to our contact email to clarify any issues.

Schedule
- June 3rd, 2025: Application deadline.
- June 24th, 2025: First round of judging.
- July 1st, 2025: The finalists are notified to send their designs to the organization by July 8th for the second round of judging.
- July 22nd, 2025: Final round of judging and subsequent notification to the selected designers in the following days.
- July 24th, 2025: The selected designers are announced.
- October 2025: Exhibition opening.
- October during VDW, 2025: Guided tours, collateral projects and award ceremony.

After 3rd November, 2025: All pieces will be returned to the designers (except in case of having the exhibition travel).
The selected participants will receive an email from us, while the official list of the selected designers will be available online only. 


The exhibition is at its 13^th edition and has attracted, in its lifetime, around 1500 applicants worldwide. The scope of our exhibition is to connect professionals and enthusiasts from all walks of life on the premise of a yearly open call, creating a strong network of individuals and helping them build lasting relationships with like-minded creatives. For this purpose, our Selection is proud to collaborate with galleries and design festivals in order to offer our FULL roster of applicants, regardless of the final result of the competition, special prizes that include but are not limited to: commercial partnerships, free participations, artist residencies and more. From 2023, the exhibition is hosted by a rotating number of museums in the city of Venice, whose missions are attuned to the sentiment of our initiative: more details will be disclosed after the final roster of participants will have been decided.
