Intro
Following the success of its first three editions, the Photomicrography Contest returns to GemGenève in 2027, opening the project to gemmology schools and students from around the world. This unique educational initiative invites students to discover and reveal the hidden beauty of gemstones through photomicrography, combining scientific observation, technical expertise, creativity and artistic expression.
Participants are invited to capture the fascinating world revealed under the microscope and transform their observations into compelling photographic compositions. From all entries submitted, 20 finalist photographs will be selected, printed and exhibited throughout GemGenève 2027, offering students the opportunity to present their work to an international audience of visitors, collectors, designers, gemmologists and jewellery professionals.
 
The selected finalists will also be in the running for four awards:
  • People’s Choice Prize
  • Young Eye Award
  • Technical Mastery Award
  • Jury’s Favourite Award

Key Dates:
Entries open: 1 September 2026

Submission deadline: 28 February 2027
.
Finalists announced: 10 March 2027.
