Intro
Alchimia is a school focused exclusively on the study of contemporary jewellery, a unique approach that allows us to be fully dedicated to all aspects of the jewellery making process. Alchimia is based in Florence, one of the most important cities for art and culture in the world.
Bachelor in Fine Arts, major in Contemporary jewellery and Jewellery Design – 2 Years program:

Tutors: Lucia Massei and Sanaa Khalil

Alchimia’s BFA offers a 2-years full immersion course into the world of contemporary jewellery: a 360-degree journey through jewellery, with focus in the development of a personal artistic style. Our program starts with courses in traditional techniques and skills in the construction and design of jewellery, and then introduces our students to new technologies, creative use of resources, a material expression for originality in design, and conceptual grounding for ideas that could enhance their expertise as jewellery makers and designers. All students are provided with a personal bench in a fully equipped workshop, which they can access also during their free time (within the school’s opening hours).

All classes are held in English and take place from September to July.

Master in Fine Arts, major in Contemporary Jewellery and Cultural Identity - 2 Years program:

Tutors: David Clarke and Evert Nijland

The Master of Fine Arts program lasts two years and has the aim of investigating, expanding and deepening the knowledge and skills of the students, generating an awareness of their own points of strength to develop a personal creative language.
The objective of the course is to render the students independent and highly qualitatively prepared in every aspect of their work as jewellery designers and makers, not only in research, creation, and production, but also in networking, exhibiting and self-presentation in relation to galleries and collectors. Special attention is given to the ability to position your work within a contemporary context and to critically evaluate your own progress.
Alchimia’s MFA program is intended to generate further critical understanding of contemporary jewellery, strengthen individual artistic approaches and positions. It holds a limited number of students not to hamper the focus and intensity of the program and to ensure a personal and valuable interaction between the students and our international teachers who provide their guidance and support in one-on-one tutoring throughout the years.
The first-year students will be equipped with a personal bench in a fully equipped workshop in the school’s main building, which they can access also during their free time (within the school’s opening hours). The students of the second year of master will have access to an exclusive workshop, located few steps away from the school, reserved solely to them.

Classes are taught in English.
