Intro
SNAG is looking for a motivated, energetic individual to serve in the role of Communications Specialist. This remote, part-time position will work collaboratively with the SNAG Team. The Communications Specialist is responsible for maintaining and initiating public-facing communications and content strategy for the organization and facilitating administrative communication.
Duties & Responsibilities

General
  • Work with the SNAG Team to create a broad communications plan, schedules and content for social media, e-blasts, website and any other platforms.
  • Maintain a calendar with dates and deadlines related to all communication initiatives, and coordinate with team members to gather content and ensure timely delivery.
  • May be required to work during in-person and online SNAG events.
  • Meet weekly via Zoom with ED, and with staff for tri-weekly Communications Meeting.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with the SNAG Team via email/ text/ phone during established working hours.
  • External communications and additional tasks as assigned by ED.

Social Media, Email and Website Platform Communication
  • Regularly produce engaging social media content and manage a content schedule, ensuring sufficient time for staff review and approval of all announcements.
  • Research and implement initiatives to grow SNAG’s digital presence and increase engagement across platforms.
  • Monitor and report on analytics, engagement, and traffic, including benchmarks to help evaluate performance.
  • Work with the SNAG Team to add content to the website.
  • Maintain and manage engagement on SNAG’s social media accounts. React and respond to DMs, questions and comments; post and share appropriate and relevant content. Monitor messages and comments and assess for follow-up from SNAG leadership.

Administrative Communication
  • Work with ED to communicate with presenters, exhibition participants, and other special event participants to gather requested materials and meet deadlines.
  • Organize files, update checklists and other status records frequently and consistently. Maintain SNAG’s Monday task management platform.
  • Track and fulfil in-kind promotional trades with partner organizations.

Qualifications & Characteristics
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable with presenting/public speaking.
  • Able to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Open and receptive to constructive feedback.
  • Brand awareness and the ability to maintain and expand on an existing brand.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to identify media trends and learn new social media tools.
  • A sense of aesthetics/design sensibilities; experience in Graphic Design.
  • Working knowledge of Canva, Adobe, Wordpress, Google Drive, and Email Marketing Platforms is desirable. Additional platforms this position will use are Bloomerang, Loomly, Monday, Humanitix, and Hopin.
  • Highly organized and able to meet deadlines.
  • Understands the voice of the organization and is knowledgeable about appropriate content for the audience and relevance to field and community.
  • Demonstrates a genuine appreciation, curiosity and respect for artists and their work.

Compensation & Application

This role is approximately 20 hours per week, with a pay range of $20–$25 per hour. While the position was previously structured as a contract role, SNAG is also open to offering part-time employment, depending on the candidate’s fit and preferences.
