In this one-day workshop, students will get an introduction to the “personalities” of various types of waxes.
Students will learn the basics of hollow form molding in a silicon mold and use that form as a way of making a lightweight hollow object appearing as it has substantial volume. Advanced carving techniques to achieve texture from mold making and carving will be shared.
When: Sun, Nov 24, 2019, 10 am - 4 pm.
Cost: $145.00 (Approx. 132 €).

About the teacher:
Alexis Pavlantos grew up in the mineral heartlands of Tieras, New Mexico. The daughter of a gemologist and goldsmith, at a young age she was immersed in jewelry and rock culture. With this acquired, or even hereditary passion for creating, she continued her studies at University of New Mexico, where she obtained her BFA in sculpture. After graduation, she moved to San Francisco to pursue a career in the arts. With limited space to create and a background in metalsmithing acquired by childhood knowledge of her mother’s practice, Alexis decided to combine the two worlds making wearable-art.
