A 4-day intensive workshop held by Kadi Veesaar, situated in her studio in the Estonian countryside, introduces nanoceramic coating (e-coating) as a contemporary surface technology for jewellery and other conductive metal objects. You will get in-depth insights into how it is used to enhance aesthetics through color and finish while simultaneously protecting metal surfaces.
E-coating produces a durable, tightly adhering ceramic layer that protects against scratches, tarnish, moisture, chemicals, and fading. The coating is hypoallergenic and therefore particularly suitable for base metals such as brass or copper. Applied through an electrochemical process (cataphoresis), the technique allows for a wide range of colors and finishes, influenced by the underlying metal and textures.
Set in Kadi’s modern studio in Estonian countryside, you will be in an inspiring environment perfect for learning from an experienced artist who will share her extensive knowledge of the technology. The workshop alternates short theoretical inputs with extensive hands-on practice. You’ll learn the process stages, parameters, possibilities, and limitations, enabling you to continue working independently after the course. Tools, equipment, materials, suppliers and different ways of integrating this technology into an existing artistic practice will also be discussed. You will get the confidence and know-how needed to continue exploring e-coating on your own.
Dates: November 19-22, 2026.
From Thursday to Saturday 10am to 6pm, on Sunday 10am to 4pm.

About Kadi Veesaar:
Kadi Veesaar is an Estonian artist whose work encompasses photography, jewellery, and objects. As a photographer, she captures emotion; as a jewellery artist, she gives it material form, expressing herself primarily through metal and stone. She is intrigued by the interplay between jewellery and sculpture, highlighting the delicacy and tactility of seemingly robust materials. Kadi holds previous master's degrees in textile technology/fashion design and informatics; she studied jewellery at the Estonian Academy of Arts (2013–2015) and has frequently pursued further training abroad.
Since 2017 e-coating has been an important part of her professional practice. She has been using it for her retail jewellery which she creates under her own named brand. She has an extensive knowledge of the technology and she continues to push the boundaries to find new artistic ways to use it.
Kadi started teaching in 2025 and has given workshops in Estonian Academy of Arts, in International Summer Academy in Campus Idar-Oberstein, in Gemstone and Jewellery Campus Idar-Oberstein and in her own studio in Väljaotsa.
