Introduction to the use of polymer clay and its possibilities in artistic jewelry.
In this intensive course, we will explore different ways of working with polymer clay, mixing colors, drawing, and creating professional patterns.
We will create diverse effects: colors, shades, and textures. We will work with molds and different effects and textures to create an experimental range of shapes and finishes to incorporate into our work, adapted to our personal creative language.
Course Content:
- Clay preparation/conditioning.
- Tools.
- Stretching.
- Marbling.
- Color mixing.
- Color gradients.
- Metal leaf/metallic powders.
- Creating textures.
- Modeling.
- Firing, correct temperatures.
- Finishing.
- Mixing techniques.
Materials to bring:
- Apron.
- Stones, shells, glass, plastics, etc. Different colors that we can shred and embed.
- Notebook, pen, permanent marker.
- Images, laser-printed photographs, color and black and white.
- Things to create textures, stones, natural leaves, punches, etc.
- Cloth.
- Cheap paintbrush.
- Utility knife.
Dates
7th of june 2026, from 9h to 13h and 14h to 18h (8h each day).
Number of Participants
10 maximum per workshop.
Level: basic jewellery level.
Place
Bruxelles (near Place Flagey).
Price
160 Euros + 10 euros / homemade lunch (optional).
Languages
English, Spanish (for personal talks, all the general explanations will be in English).

About Judy McCaig:
A Scottish jeweller, printmaker and painter, who since 1991 has lived and worked in Barcelona. Born in Edinburgh, studied art and jewellery at Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art, Dundee, Scotland from 1975-79. From 1980-83 she studied for a Master of Arts at The Royal College of Art, London. On completion of her studies she travelled extensively in Egypt and Europe.
On her return to London in 1984, she studied printmaking for three years and set up a workshop at 401½ Studios. From 2000 until the present day she has been teaching at the Massana School of Art in Barcelona and since 2009 at Taller Perill, Barcelona. Also acting as visiting lecturer in the USA, Germany, Portugal, UK, Spain, Italy, Canada, Chile and Argentina. She exhibits both nationally and internationally and has work in many public and private collections.
