Intro
Lost wax casting, or investment casting, is a 6,500-year-old technique for creating precise, intricate metal objects by creating a wax model, encasing it in clay (investment), burning out the wax, and filling the void with molten metal.
This four-day workshop will be divided into five steps:
(1) Wax modelling: creating individual projects using beeswax.
(2) Mould making: creating moulds from clay and horse manure.
(3) Metal casting: pouring metal into the clay moulds.
(4) Demolding: breaking open the moulds with a hammer.
(5) Finishing.
