Statement from Ted Noten

If we want to survive we have to renew our discipline, so called: Art Jewellery.
In a time of globalisation and interfacings with other disciplines the jewellery field can not stay behind.
This course is inspired by a new trend which comes from the design world, notified as “Cradle to Cradle”/Remaking the Way We Make Things. A philosophy that was initiated by William A. McDonough. It’s not the intention to work through the whole spectrum of this manifesto but to filter parts out of it that could be useful to energize a new mentality towards designing jewellery. This we will achieve in these 5 days by researching on different themes, discussions about jewellery, setting up concepts and new frames. To find a new attitude will be the main focus of the workshop. The workshop may have an international character.
