This summer course devotes itself to experimental explorations of and research oriented approaches to digital image editing technologies and rapid prototyping as means to develop and generate form. It brings together technologies, materials, forms, traces as well as performative gestures and it explores new ways in the generation of form. Distancing effects and transformation, spontaneity and directness are key words for the experiment with diverse digital and analoguous designtools in the area of tension between image, object and space. The experiments aim at the development of objects that could be implemented by rapid prototyping. A presentation of the results will conclude the course.

The course will be complemented by integral offers such as lectures to chart the art historical contexts and excursions to nearby areas such as the open air museum Insel Hombroich, the Langen Foundation and the Cities of Collogne or Bonn.
