Set in Empar Juane’s beautiful, renovated 200-year-old traditional house in the heart of the Valencian countryside, you will find yourself in an inspiring environment equipped with all the facilities you need.

Open to both experienced makers and curious beginners, Pedra casa estudi creates space for experimentation, reflection, and material sensitivity

This year’s agenda includes two distinct workshop formats:


Carve Your Vision
For this week-long immersive experience, together with a small group of fellow creatives, you’ll explore the full process—from concept development to the creation of your own final piece in stone.
For one week, we live and create together—an incredible opportunity to meet other fellow artists and build meaningful connections.
This workshop invites you to slow down and engage deeply with stone as a medium of expression.

Dates:

• May 11-17th.

Duration: 7 days. Arriving Sunday at 5 pm and ending Sunday at 5 pm.
Included: Food and stay in double rooms. Transfer from the airport/station. Machines and tools.
Participants: Spaces are very limited (only 4) to ensure personalised attention and a quality experience for all participants. Candidates will be selected due to the limited number of spots.

Stone Capsule
This weekend workshop, 20h (2,5 days with food and lodging provided), is designed for those eager to explore the captivating world of stone carving and learn its fundamentals.
You’ll receive step-by-step guidance in using professional stone carving tools and techniques, all within a fully equipped and inspiring workshop.

The best experience for those with less time who are looking for a concentrated creative burst, or who want a first approach to this special material with reduced and personalised guidance.

Dates:

• 24 - 26 April.

Duration: 20 hours (2,5 days). Arriving Friday at 5 pm and ending Sunday at 7 pm.
Location: Llombai, Valencia (we will pick you up from the airport or train station if needed).

About Empar Juanes:
Empar Juanes has developed her professional career on two very different scales: one in architecture and the other more intimate and personal, dedicated to contemporary jewelry.

In 2025, Empar Juanes was selected as a finalist for the Loewe Craft Prize. In 2024, she was also honoured with the Herbert Hofmann Prize, presented during the celebrated Schmuck exhibition at the Internationale in Munich.

She patiently selects and opens raw stones to find one that has enough size, uniformity, and absence of veins, inclusions, or fractures, suitable for a three-dimensional work. Taking great risks, she cuts each stone with precise accuracy, followed by a meditative carving process where her deep understanding of geometry guides her hands into fluid movements. Through this careful craftsmanship, she pushes the material boundaries of stone, transforming it into ethereal, almost immaterial jewelry pieces.

After spending a decade living abroad between Germany and the Netherlands, combining her practice between architecture and art, in 2022, she returned to her village near València and renovated with her hands a 200-year-old house, transforming it into her home and studio where she founded PEDRA, an educational project about stone carving and contemporary jewelry.
