Barbara Schrobenhauser is based in Munich and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Otto Künzli. After an apprenticeship as a goldsmith, she was working for 7 years in several studios in Germany and Barcelona before she started her studies at the end of her twenties. Since 2013 she works on her own in a shared studio with three other jewellery artists.
Statement
My way to a piece very often comes through a working method. I look for my way to work with a material and walk along with it, looking around in my mind. After experimenting I make my decisions and my choices. To make is to think. I want to get astonished at the end of the working process. I am curious so I make. There is more then meets the eye. This is an important point: you can fully understand my works only by touching them.
