Statement

Born in 2000, I was predominantly influenced by generation Z. The society and art after 2000, with globalization, internationalization, urbanization, marketization, "depoliticise", go to the elite, diversification, entertainment, complanation, no centralized characteristics, artistic features gradually from the historical trace of the linear by the emphasis on realistic society and traditional culture in the 90s, the cultural differences between east and west. To have the universal value characteristic heterogenous symbiosis, the virtual reality isomorphism trend development artists and took inspiration from, I have been interested in hand-crafting materials since I was young. I find my own working way during I studied in Central Saint Martins BA jewellery design Over time, I have developed an interest in art, bodies, emotions and how they interact. Moving from China to London, I began to shape an aesthetic inspired by Asian culture, creating work that becomes a lens through which to see the traditional and the modern. Exploring the interaction between art, bodies and emotions, my collection reflects on the synergy between plastic and human. By creating jewellery that will connect to the skin, I share my thought on this enduring relationship using a conceptual way.

My work reflects the concern and issues surrounding environmental problems, such as microplastic pollution of the oceans, and excessive use of plastic packaging that is having a negative and urgent effect on sea life and human life globally.

Based on my research, I started to think about plastic itself. Moreover, the plastic itself is a material with multiple possibilities, but it is its convenient production that makes people ignore its recyclability. I don't think it's plastic itself that's the problem, it's human behavior that makes plastic a harmful material. My work wants to make people realize that plastic itself is beautiful and that humans need to pay more attention to their living ways. For this project, all the materials are biodegradable or environmentally friendly. I like to study various materials and discover their properties from experiments. I think materials can speak for themselves. Most of these works are covered with cut fish scales. In order to make them look more like sequins, I wanted to follow the shape of the fish scales themselves rather than the original fish scale dyeing scheme. So later I began to play with colour of fish scales, using their colors to create a natural feeling. They take up physical space and invite conversation, I hope they engage people in the continued discussion and urgent matter of finding sustainable ways of living, being, and creating.
