This is the publication produced as a result of the this is me Irish Traveller jewellery community project. This book explores the development of an idea it turned into a fun, fruitful, and inspiring community art jewellery project.
This is the publication produced as a result of the this is me Irish Traveller jewellery community project. I have been working on the most amazing community projects in coordination with Brent Irish Advisory Services and a group of enthusiastic Irish Traveller women.
Little is known about Irish Traveler Culture in the wider community, with the exception of what has been seen on "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding"( Channel 4, UK ) and what is read in the tabloids.
Yet it is a distinct and rich culture and the women were keen to share their experiences.
This book explores the development of an idea it turned into a fun, fruitful, and inspiring community art jewellery project.
This book has been written for other artists, makers, galleries, and community groups in mind, and I hope it will also be useful to anyone else interested in community art or collaborative projects.
Foreword by Martin Collins, the Co-Director of Pavee Point- Ireland's main portal for Irish Travellers.
Introduction by Sharon O’Regan, at B.I.A.S.
Graphic design by Vita Dobson.
Photographs by Jennika Argent.
