Klimt02 Editors' Picks. Six Remarkable Artworks of 2024
Published: 12.02.2025
Klimt02

In 2024, 1619 pieces were published on Klimt02. As editors, Amador Bertomeu, Leo Caballero, and Cécile Maes have each selected two works to feature in the series Klimt02 Editors' Picks. Six Remarkable Artworks of 2024.
Each piece is accompanied by a personal text explaining our choice and sharing our interpretations and vision, which may be either universal or individual.
These interpretations consider artistic practices that we view as equal to all others. The pieces published on Klimt02 carry concepts, messages, and values, with a particular emphasis on the idea that creativity transcends the boundaries of disciplines.
The selection in Klimt02 Editors' Picks aims to be a space for sharing, a mirror of the diversity of thoughts within a single team. This series seeks to spark dialogue and encourage collective reflection on what makes a piece interesting, what captures attention, and what ignites curiosity. It embodies our belief that the richness of creativity is nurtured through the plurality of visions, the confrontation of ideas and interpretations shaped by each individual’s background and context.
Leo Caballero's Curated Selection
Plat du jour: day 2 by Fumiko Gotô
Fumiko Gotô. Brooch: Plat du jour: day 2, 2024. Buffalo horn, Coral, Silver 925.
The brooch Plat du Jour: day 2, is part of the amazing series of brooches created by the artist, where again Fumiko offers us cleanness, delicacy, minimalism, high technical standards and subtle concept. She uses her well know materials, where she has accomplished a well earned mastery, to evoke in a very simple way the art of serving food.
Anziehungskraft (Lollipop 8) by Oles Tsura
Oles Tsura. Brooch: Anziehungskraft (Lollipop 8), 2024. Jasper, wooden stick, white colour, silver 925 From series: Anziehungskraft. Photo by: Varvara Kandaurova.
The brooch Anziehungskraft (Lollipop 8) by Oles Tsura plays with the idea of a daily object, an object we all easily recognise, and turns into a piece of jewellery, deconstructing the original function/use of it, translating candy into Jasper creating a beautiful piece not just to wear but to watch.

Hope by Sari Liimatta
Sari Liimatta. Sculpture: Hope, 2024. Glass beads, faceted peridots, a piece of asphalt road, sterling silver, wire. From series: After World.
The object connects and links a fragment of asphalt, an emblem of a raw and solid material that evokes the weight of matter, with glass, which symbolizes the opposite: ethereal, luminous, colorful, and with subtle, dynamic shapes that embrace and surround this primal essence with a gentle force. A fundamental and concise description of the contrast between two manifestations of matter.
Die Knochigen_Bone X by Otto Künzli
Brooch: Die Knochigen_Bone XV, 2024. Bone (water buffalo), gold.
A caricature, a portrait, a figuration that conveys an overwhelming expressiveness, crafted with the simplicity of geometric gestures and dimensions that highlight the power of communication within the space and time of jewelry art. A demonstration of all that can be achieved, regardless of size, with elegance and minimalist gesturality.
Cécile Maes' Curated Selection
Sugar free peach by Benedict Haener
Necklace: Sugar free peach, 2024. Glass, resin, diamonds. From series: Kill Your Darling. Photo by: Raisa Durandi.
Because this piece is the great materialisation of the intention to create an illusion. Because it works, and in this achievement, it conveys a conceptual clarity, questioning value and preciousness. It is bold and sexy, and it makes you want to wear it, even bite into it, as if you are losing a part of yourself in the process.

Aurora by Catarina Silva
Piece: Aurora, 2024. Glass beads. Exhibited in Jewellery for Democracy during the Lisbon International Biennial of Contemporary Jewellery.
The handkerchief, as an object, is deeply connected to human history. It carries multiple references, and Catarina Silvia’s choice to use it as a tribute to Aurora Rodrigues, a figure in the fight against the Salazarist regime in Portugal, is deeply relevant.
The use of pearls and their weaving embeds this piece within a feminine history of resistance, further enhancing the symbolic aura of this tactile object.
