Intro
The Kunstschouw Award is an incentive prize and award to one young artist every year. The prize consists of a bronze trophy made by Marian van Puyvelde and reward sponsored by Renesse Foundation.
The jury of the Kunstschouw Award 2019:
Kathrin Ginsberg, director CBK Zeeland.
Wim Bakker, chairman cultural council Goes and artist.
Kees de Valk, curator of the Bewaerschole Burgh Haamstede and artist.

The three nominated artists :
Zeyun Chen (location: NH Kerk, Noordwelle)
Yelena Myshko (location: Landgoedhotel Slot Moermond, Renesse)
Zoey Hehemann (location: Boerderij Oud Brabers, Burghsluis)

The jury made a selection from the young artists who were invited by the Kunstschouw organization to present their work at various Kunstschouw locations. An invitation to realize existing or new work. The jury finds this is a difficult task sometimes. The artists not only take into account the characteristics of a place, but also the presence of the work from colleagues. Here is the result of an important coordinating task of the organization that the artists will certainly appreciate.

Zeyun Chen was declared the winner of the 2019 Award on the basis of the originality in her work.
With great pleasure, the jury also handed out well-deserved material prizes to Yelena Myshko and Zoey Hehemann.

Zeyun Chen
Zeyun Chen goes back to its origins in an almost archaeological journey, a search for the origin, food and recycling. She makes unique and special designs from everyday life. Zeyun Chen has an eye for current affairs in her process with a well thought out creative concept.
The wonderful possibilities of discovering the shape and color of the raw material, with the additional layers of imaginative humor. These all come together in her potato project. In addition, she knows how to create new value as a designer by using everyday, cheap and worthless disposable items. The original jewelry has a pure beauty through recycling and design.
