Intro
200,000 six-pack rings have been collected and reused. 305 designers from over 25 countries have contributed to create a 500-piece Origomu artwear collection. Check out the finalists of the Origomu Design contest.
The Origomu Movement is concerned with environmental and social matters. Origomu is a “movement” that motivates and teaches people how to create beautiful necklaces from plastic six-pack rings. Origomu's vision is "Environmental awareness through design", using plastic six-pack rings; those that every year threaten the lives of thousands of shore birds and marine animals around the world.

So far, more than 200,000 six-pack rings have been collected and reused. 305 designers from over 25 countries have contributed to create a 500-piece Origomu artwear collection.

On Origomu.com all the finalists are posted, as well as the 3 winners:
1. "Necklace" - Manuela Sousa (Portugal)
2. "Vertebrae" - Anabelle Colon (New York)
3. "Ebb And Flow" - Estefânia R. De Almeida (Portugal)

We have been asked by our curators for some requirements in order to participate in the book publishing.

We need you to take a picture of your design adhering to the following directions:

-All necklaces should be displayed on the neck
-Try to manage the lighting so it has some texture/interesting chiaroscuro

Some thought should be given to the presentation of the necklace.

Remarks

In addition to a book publishing, we will be selecting necklaces for a major fashion photo-shoot. There will be a professional photo shoot in January 13 through 21st 2011 in an eco-friendly environment with a fashion photographer, stylist and fashion designers. These pictures will showcase your necklaces in the published book and any other major publications. Therefore, we urge you to upload a beautiful photo showcasing your designs.

Here are the important dates:

January 13-21 2011: Fashion Photo Shoot.
December 14 2010: Curators will select the pieces which are going to be on the book. Therefore, all the images should be submitted BEFORE/BY the January 31 2011.
