Intro
ENJOIA’T, Prize for Contemporary Jewelry Making, is a unique event within the sector, which has been rewarding the most outstanding proposals within the field of jewelry making for professionals as well as students. In fact, ENJOAI’T rewards originality, technical quality, conceptual richness and transgression in the field of jewelry making so much as to question its own limits.
ENJOIA’T, Prize for Contemporary Jewellery Making, is a unique event within the sector, which has been rewarding the most outstanding proposals within the field of jewellery making for professionals as well as students.

However, ENJOIA’T is not just a prize, and you will not find just jewellery. ENJOIA’T is much more than all this, since it is also a celebration of creativity, an indispensable meeting point for professionals in the sector, and a platform from which to show the public your creative project.

In fact, ENJOIA’T rewards originality, technical quality, conceptual richness and transgression in the field of jewellery making so much as to question its own limits.

Dates and price

Dates:
The specified registration materials must be handed in to the offices of the A-FAD, (Pl. de les Glòries Catalanes, 37-38 (Edifici Disseny Hub Barcelona), 08018 Barcelona deadline 11th July, 2014.

The selected participants must present their piece on either Tuesday the 7th or Wednesday the 8th of October.

The jury will meet the semi-finalists in the head office of the FAD on Thursday, October 9th, 2014.

Conditions

The contest

>> Phase one: selection
All of the participants must send a dossier in digital format that includes:
— Curriculum Vitae.
— Up to 5 digital images of the piece you are presenting (in tiff or jpeg format, 300dpi, 10 x 15 cm minimum). Each artist may present one piece
only. The materials, dimensions and theme are open.
— Technical sheet (dimensions, technique, year and materials).
— Conceptual report.
— Supporting documents of student status (as necessary).*
— Supporting documents of unemployed status (as necessary).**

The specified registration materials must be handed in to the offices of the A-FAD, Pl. de les Glòries Catalanes, 37-38, 08018, Barcelona deadline 11th July, 2014.
The dossiers received for the selection will be placed in the documental archive of the A-FAD.

The selection will be made based on the dossiers. A maximum of 20 participants will enter the second phase of the competition and will participate in the exposition that will take place at the Arts Santa Mònica, from October 9th to October 11th, incorporated under the context of the event JOYA, Barcelona Contemporary Jewellery Fair in Barcelona.

The selected participants must present their piece on either Tuesday the 7th or Wednesday the 8th of October.

>> The second phase: the awards
The jury will meet the semi-finalists in the head office of the FAD on Thursday, October 9th, 2014.

Each piece must be worn(the participant or someone else), and the participant will have 5 minutes to present it and defend it before the jury. Besides on the technical and innovative aspects of the piece, the originality of the presentation/defence will be evaluated. Thus, the participant may utilize the elements he or she thinks convenient to help in the presentation.

At 20:00 the Celebration of the Enjoia’t Awards 2014 will begin, in the Moritz factory space (Ronda de Sant Antoni 39, 08011 Barcelona), in which the 20 participants will display their piece in front of the public. All of the attendees will be able to vote to choose the winner of the Public Opinion Award. 
At the end of the celebration, the jury will make their decision public, and they will hand out the diplomas to the winners and finalists.

The prizes will be announced and handed out the 9th of October.

Professional Award
There is one prize only for creators, designers or companies, with a maximum of two finalists. The winner will be crowned with a piece made by Frédérique Coomans, winner of the ENJOIA’T Professional Award of 2013, and will be given the responsibility to make the crown for the following year.
The prize will be to be showcased in the context of the event JOYA, Barcelona Contemporary Jewellery Fair, in its edition of 2015.***

Student Award
There is one prize only for students with a maximum of two finalists. The winner will be crowned with a piece made by Xiao Liu, winner of the ENJOIA’T Student Award of 2013, and will be given the responsibility to make the crown for the following year.
The prize will be to be showcased in the context of the event JOYA, Barcelona Contemporary Jewellery Fair, in its edition of 2015.***

Public Opinion Award

There is one prize chosen by the attendees of the celebration.
The prizes and the finalists of each category, as with those of the public opinion award, will receive an official diploma.

The crowns will become part of the permanent collection of the A-FAD, Artists and Artisans of the FAD.


Jury
The selecting jury of ENJOIA’T 2013 will be composed of: 

- Lourdes Carmelo contemporary jeweler
- Imma Batalla; jeweller, Des del sud blog editor and CAT. Joieria Contemporània founder
- Magda Polo Ph.D. in philosophy of art and chair of A-FAD
- Rutger Emmelkamp Head of Jewelry Department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie
- Marta Miguel contemporary jeweler

The jury will evaluate aspects of originality, innovation and aesthetics. The conceptual value as well as the quality of the technical production and originality of the presentation will be taken into account.
The jury has no responsibility to resolve any unforeseen contingencies and they reserve the right to leave the categories unawarded.
The jury’s decision will be final.


* Students are those people who can demonstrate their status with a registration sheet or certificate of studies.

**Unemployed are those people who can demonstrate their status with the certificate of unemployment or a registration sheet from their local unemployment office as job seekers.

*** The exposition will take place in the context of the event JOYA, Barcelona Contemporary Jewellery Fair. The show will be shared by the professional winner and the student winner. The winners are responsible for the costs of design, production, setup and breakdown of their exposition, as well as at the inauguration, and the means of promotion that are printed (invitations, flyers, poster, etc.). The winners will be responsible for the objects and/ or materials shown, for surveillance of the show and the apparatus and infrastructure that they decide to use during the exposition, and in the case of any damagein the space resulting from the setup of the show, they will be responsible as well. Those selected authorize the A-FAD to publicise by any means the information provided by the artist, only when it is related to the professional promotion of the winner. The A-FAD reserves the right to modify any aspect of the exposition, with the approval of the artist, if it is felt that anything goes against their philosophy or appropriate behaviour.
