Intro
Artist and jewellery maker Réka Fekete presents her book A Dance of Light and Shadow in CODA Auditorium on Sunday 24 October at 2:30 pm. The book pays attention to the development and oeuvre of Réka Fekete; from her graduation work at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2010 to her most recent jewellery and objects. In addition, photos of her sketchbooks, experiments, installations, exhibitions and studio spaces provide a unique insight into her life and work.
Authors Ward Schrijver and Liesbet Bussche contributed to A Dance of Light and Shadow and design duo Haller Brun designed the book. Stichting Onvergetelijk made the realisation of the book possible. The 11 necklaces, brooch and wall object CODA acquired from Fekete for the collection are on show during the book presentation.

Réka Fekete and CODA are no strangers. CODA invited her in 2013 to design the jewellery for the annual event Sieraden met een verhaal. Fekete was then inspired by Langgewagt, the famous squat and artists' breeding ground on the Spui-street in Amsterdam. Langgewagt has now been closed permanently, but for a long time it was Fekete's home and studio: I dedicated the necklace for Sieraden met een verhaal  to Langgewagt, as a tribute to and a reminder of the good times I had there. Necklace Langgewagt is of the CODA collection since 2013.

Réka Fekete
Réka Fekete (1982) was born in Budapest, Hungary. After some travelling, she settled in Amsterdam in 2004 and graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2010. Jewellery designer and artist Iris Eichenberg invited her a year later to study for three months as a visiting artist at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, USA. She then returned to Amsterdam where she still lives and works.
