Escola Massana and Sd·edicions are pleased to invite you to the presentation of the contemporary jewellery book When jewellery becomes a metaphor Ramon Puig Cuyàs 30 years of contemporary jewellery.
A book about Ramon Puig Cuyàs' 30 years of contemporary jewellery life. Until the first quarter of the 20th century, jewellery had been considered a lesser art, forming part of the decorative or applied arts. However, contemporary jewellery has broken these traditional schemes with artists such as Ramon Puig Cuyàs, who journeys through various walks of art.
This complete anthology of the work of Puig Cuyàs, in addition to the reproduction of big part of his pieces and collections, explores the roots and mestizo intentions of the jeweller, the Mediterranean as a key element, the reconfiguration of symbolic cultural traditions and the creative cycles. Form and expression, fragment and multiplicity, jewellery as a poetic and communicative symbolism.

The presentation is led by Antonio Ontañón Paredo, the Doctor of History of Art, Professor of Massana, and director of the magazine Situaciones. The author Ramon Puig Cuyàs will also be present.

28th of November, Friday, 12 pm.
